Obituary

Maria Enriqueta Montoya, passed away January 21, 2020 at her home in Corpus Christi surrounded by her loving family. After a difficult battle with brain cancer she passed at 57 years of age.

Maria was born on April 14, 1962 in Corpus Christi, Texas to her parents Macedonio and Enriqueta Montoya.

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many; now our Guardian Angel in heaven.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents. She was the youngest of four children.

She graduated from Mary Carroll High School, Class of 1980. While in school she excelled in music; earning a trip to play at Carnegie Hall in New York City and a European Tour in 1979.
Maria was married on June 24, 1983 to Rene Raul Ramirez. Their blessed union brought to life 2 beautiful children; Felicia and Rene, Jr.

Maria started her career at IRC & TT Electronics, later working for the State of Texas at the Workforce Commission in Child Care and continued her work with the Health and Human Services Department.

A perfect day for Maria was to have everyone gathered around in her home sharing laughter and joy. She had an uncontrollable appetite for cotton candy, popcorn, and pickles! She loved spending time with friends and family, especially her children and grandchildren. Forever a loving mother and grandmother. Our mom was the definition of compassionate; she was always willing to help those in need, thinking of others before herself. To know her was to love her. The love which she gave to us in life will continue to live in our hearts forever. She will be dearly missed.

Maria is survived by: 2 brothers: Richard (Olga) Garcia of San Antonio, Emilio (Janine) Montoya of California; sister: Veronica (Frutoso) Soliz; daughter Felicia Ramirez; sons: Rene Raul Ramirez, Jr. and David Lee Garza, all of Corpus Christi; 7 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

Public Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, February 3 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A, with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening.
