Obituary

Maria Luisa "Mary Lou" Cadriel, 74, passed away peacefully December 23 surrounded by her family.

The eldest of three, Marylou was born in June 1946 to Horacio and Maria Luisa Delgado. She grew up in Brownsville, TX and was a committed student, graduating in 1964 from Villa Maria High School. She cherished her high school years, and spoke fondly of school dances and the lifelong friendships she made.

Marylou's career relocated her and her family to Corpus Christi, TX, where she served as the office and sales manager at the Billy Pugh Company for 25 years. While Marylou retired in 2014, her colleagues remember her for her kindness, steady leadership, and generosity. She was a consummate professional with a work ethic that inspired those around her — a work ethic she passed down to her three children of whom she was very proud.

Marylou was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She especially loved her role as Grandma, and treasured the time she spent with her six grandchildren. An active member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Marylou was a devout servant to her Lord. Her faith community brought her a great sense of purpose and comfort, and she embraced the opportunity to be of service to others. Marylou was a friend to all, her warmth, smile and sincerity made those around her feel welcome and loved. Her charm, grace, strength, wit, and love for her family and friends is sorely missed.

Marylou is survived by her children, David Cadriel and his wife, Lisa; Yvette Proctor and her husband, George; and Darice Cadriel and her partner, David Keith, her siblings Gracie Day, and Latch Delgado, her grandchildren Garrett, Austin and Trey Dickens; Luke, Sara and Quinn Cadriel, and family Julia Torres and Peggy Shelton.

A service will be held at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, TX, at a later date when family and friends can gather safely to honor Marylou's life.
