Maria Contreras Luera, 91, passed away on December 19, 2022.  Maria was born on January 6, 1931, in Gregory, Texas, and was a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi, Texas. She was the matriarch of her family.

Maria leaves behind her loving children, Sylvia Reyna, Lillian Luera, Pedro Luera Jr. and Gilbert (Sylvia) Luera. "Mother" will forever be cherished by her grandchildren, Michael Hernandez, Andrew Luera, Crystal (Ramiro) Escobar, Catherine (Andrew) Reyes, Alysha (William) Conrad, and Madelyn Luera.  She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Isabelle, Andrew, Carter, Crew, Josh, and Olivia. Maria will always be remembered for being a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to her family.

Public visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December  28, 2022 at Guardian Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m.  A Chapel service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Guardian Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at Rose Hill Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andrew Luera, Gilbert Luera, Ramiro Escobar, Sammy Gonzalez, Andrew Reyes, Antonio Cuestas III, and Tony Reyna.
