Maria Elena De Luna, age 75, passed away on August 4, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on March 6, 1951, in Puerto Del Aire, Nuevo León, Mexico, to proud parents, Horacio and Maria Portillo.

Maria was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, beloved sister, and cherished friend. She possessed a beautiful and compassionate heart and spent her life caring deeply for the people around her. Above all else, Maria treasured her family. Her children were a source of great pride, and she absolutely adored her grandchildren. Being a grandmother brought tremendous happiness to her life.

Maria was full of life and had a wonderful sense of style. She loved shopping and fashion and enjoyed the beautiful things in life. Yet it was her kindness, generosity, and selfless nature that made her truly beautiful.

Maria’s Catholic faith was an important part of her life. During her later years, she devoted much of her time and heart to Holy Family Catholic Church. Her faith in God remained a source of strength, peace, and comfort, and she carried that faith with her throughout her life.

Maria is survived by her beloved husband, Bobby T. DeLuna; her sons, Brian Mark DeLuna, Joseph Anthony DeLuna, and Bobby DeLuna Jr. and his wife, Celia DeLuna; her grandchildren, Bobby DeLuna III, Melody Hope DeLuna, Hailey Valdez, and Helena Valdez; her sisters, Bertha Rojas, Maria Santos Maldonado, Araceli Lopez Portillo, and Maria Concepcion Rojas Rojas; and her brothers, Joaquin Rojas and Javier Rojas.

She is preceded in death by her beloved son, David DeLuna; her mother, Maria Santos Rojas Zamarron; her father, Horacio Portillo Zamarron; her brother, Armando Rojas; and her aunt, Santiaga Rojas Sanchez.

Maria Elena De Luna will forever be remembered as a woman of deep love, faith, compassion, and grace. She was the heart of her family—a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a cherished sister, and a faithful friend. Her kindness had no boundaries, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live in her family’s hearts.

As her family now grieves the loss of Maria, they find comfort in their Catholic faith and in the hope that the separation between a mother and her son has finally ended. They can imagine the beautiful moment when Maria was welcomed home into the arms of our Lord and reunited with her son David once again—a mother embracing her son in a place where there is no more suffering, no more sorrow, and no more goodbye.

Those she leaves behind will miss her beautiful presence, her laughter, her caring heart, and the special way she could make anyone feel loved. Yet they take comfort in knowing that the bonds of love do not end with death. Maria’s love forever remains.

May the Blessed Virgin Mary, our loving Mother, receive Maria beneath her mantle and lead her gently into the presence of her Son. May our Lord welcome Maria into His heavenly kingdom, where she may rejoice alongside David and all those who went before her in faith.

Until the day her family is reunited with her, may Maria’s beautiful memory remain a blessing and may her love continue to guide those she leaves behind.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
