On August 28, 2021, Margarita Garcia Rodriguez, passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 73 after a long battle with cancer and its complications.

Margie, as she was known by her family and friends, was born in Portland, Texas in 1948 to Nicanor and Valentina Garcia. With ten children in the family, of which she was the second oldest daughter, the Garcia home was crowded but full of love. In 1967, Margie married the love of her life, the "wouldn't-take-no-for-an- answer" Felipe Rodriguez. They shared a love of gardening, bowling and could often be found whirling around the dance halls in their younger years.

Margie was the proud mother of six children. She was mother to one biological child, and she became "mom" to her five youngest brothers and sisters at the young age of 22 when their mother tragically passed away. Margie's greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Felix, Nick, and Victor, her sister Clara, and her husband of 46 years, Felipe. She is survived by her son Roland (Linda), her brother Jesse, her sister Bede, her sister Laly (Luther), her sister Norma, her brother Ray (Cortney), her two grandchildren Ryan and Emma, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel B at 5922 Crosstown SH 286. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church at 7210 SPID/Kostoryz Rd. Burial will take place at 1pm in Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
