IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marcus Jordan
Ellison
October 2, 1994 – June 9, 2023
Marcus Jordan Ellison was called home on June 9, 2023. Marcus was born on October 2, 1994, in Dallas, TX.
Marcus attended Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas where he led the Tiger offense on the basketball court. Marcus attended Texas AM Corpus Christi before transferring to Clarendon College where he earned his associate's degree. He then attended Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX, and found his true fit at Hardin-Simmons University, where he finished his collegiate basketball career and received his bachelors degree in 2018.
During his time in Abilene, he made strong ties on and off the court. Abilene is where he grew into a man and became a father. Amari Jordan Ellison was born on September 7, 2018, and brought so much joy into Marcus's life. Marcus and Amari spent time gaming and playing basketball, but Marcus also knew when it was time to be strict. Amari was his sidekick and "mini-me". Later, Aubrielle Jourdan Ellison was born on December 14, 2021, and he had his little princess. Aubrie was born a "daddy's girl" and "had him at hello". Marcus loved both of his children deeply and unconditionally. Marcus' children were his greatest joy and by far the one thing that he was most proud of.
Marcus was spiritually grounded and the Word was hidden in his heart. He was baptized on August 17, 2016, at Amarillo South Church. His favorite bible scripture and the foundation of his life was Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
In April 2021, Marcus co-founded Culture Complex with one goal in mind, to give back to Corpus Christi and most importantly the community that he grew up in. He was dedicated to his business partner, those he trained, and making an impact that would outlast dribbling a ball or shooting a jump shot. Marcus poured himself into the children and the community and loved both equally. Marcus remained steadfast in his love for basketball and the blessings it afforded him until the day he passed.
Marcus is survived by his mother, Donna Young, his father, Marcus (Nicky) Blair Ellison, son, Amari (Jaytun) and partner and sweetheart, Alexis Garcia, and daughter Aubrielle. Brother, Trey Young, and sisters Keyaira (Jonathan) Garcia and Kendall Ellison. Uncles, Zacc Young and William (Sandra) Polk, and aunts Kimberly (Chris) Hernandez, Twalla Ellison, Tiffany Polk, and Porsche Ellison. Maternal grandparents, Walter and Sharon Young, and paternal grandparents, James Ellison Jr., Brenda Ellison, and Sandra Polk. Nephews, Xzadrian Perez, Ayden Meave, Jonathan Jr. and many beloved cousins and friends.
