Obituary

On January 10, 2017, at age 61, Marcus Jackson Denson III (aka Raymond Hill) met the living God; his creator, after over a year of beating the odds during his second round of stomach cancer.
Marc was born in Huntsville, TX and raised in south San Antonio. At the age of 13 he was adopted by his step-father and changed his name to Raymond David Hill, after his beloved grandfather.
After graduating from Highlands High School in 1973 he served his country as a Naval marine mechanic from 1973 to 1977. Marc, or Denny as he was called by family, told many stories of the jobs he held, the accomplishments he achieved, the people he met, and his escapades while in the Navy and in the years thereafter. At the age of 50 Marc fulfilled his dream of becoming a pastor. He led and served three congregations over five years before joining the finest group of people for whom he'd ever worked, the Corpus Christi Police Department.
For six years Marc worked tirelessly and fought many up-hill battles as the Parking Control Operations Manager. He put people and companies together to develop a system that didn't exist; all to create an efficient, profitable & respectable department of which the City of Corpus Christi could be proud. He called it his legacy.
Marc was a fishing fanatic and north jetty warrior with his buddy, Brad Carroll of San Antonio, who not only shares the same passion, but could also verify his fish stories. However, the pictures of their catches Marc first carried in his wallet & then on his phone, were proof enough.
Marc peacefully left this earth knowing that his wife of 18 years, Kelly, and precious daughter, Savannah, are in God's hands. We are so grateful for all of the prayers God heard on his behalf, especially by & through his beloved sister Vicky Cloud and husband Bruce of Wimberley, TX, and his brother Clark Denson and wife Jill of Cypress, TX, who gave him a second home to receive his treatment at M.D. Anderson.
We are also grateful for Dr. Brandon Hamisch, who by devine intervention ordered the CT scan that discovered Marc's liver cancer in 2015, and the care, attention and friendship provided thereafter by his local oncologist, Dr. Shantan Reddy.
A celebration memorial service will be held on Friday, February 3rd, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at The Net Fellowship, 2029 Flour Bluff Drive, Corpus Christi, TX. Refreshments will be served thereafter. Later that day, at 2:00 p.m., a committal service will be held at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery where military honors will be presented as a tribute to Marc, your attendance is greatly appreciated.
Marc had a passion for young people. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation or volunteering your time to those he supported/was involved: Teen Challenge; The Net Young Adults Ministry; Texas Youth Commission-York House; Goodwill GoodGuides; Corpus Christi Police Explorers; Fish For Life Corpus Christi.
