Marcos De
La Garza, Jr.
January 22, 1940 – January 1, 2024
Marcos De La Garza, 83, a Catholic, was called to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on January 1, 2024. He was born on January 22, 1940 in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was raised by Moises and Florentina De La Garza. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
Marcos served in the Army in an artillery division, later transferring to be a paratrooper and then into logistics. He found his calling at C.C.A.D., where he worked until he retired to spend the rest of his life loving his family.
He was preceded in death by parents Moises and Florentina De La Garza, his wife Mary Helen De La Garza, his son Marc De La Garza III, and his sister and brother-in-law Edward and Susie Hinojosa.
He is survived by daughter-in-law Audrey De La Garza of Corpus Christi, Texas, and sons Richard David (Jill) De La Garza of Sunnyvale, Texas and Ronald Moises (Stacy) De La Garza of Royse City, Texas; eight grand-children Laura Elizabeth, Richard David II, Marc Adrian, Joshua Robert (Reagan), Ronald Alexander (Brittany), Joseph Moises, Noah Jacob, and Jason Robert; and great grandchildren Jericho Alexander and Jiovanni Apollo.
His grandchildren will serve as his pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Guardian Funeral Home followed by a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in the Gardens of Prayer section.
