CORPUS CHRISTI – Mickey Rodriguez died Tuesday, November 16, 2021. She was 82. She was born September 2, 1939 in Laredo, Texas to Arturo and Teresita Valls and is 11 th of 12 children. She married Sergio J. Rodriguez, USAF (2012) in 1961 and the two of them went on to celebrate 51 years of marriage, during which they raised three children. She was the most devoted wife and mother anyone could ever ask for and will be dearly missed. By everyone. Mickey was so talented in the kitchen and got the most pleasure from feeding you until you burst. Then she'd serve you another helping. To know Mickey is to have had to loosen your belt! As talented as she was in the kitchen, she was also talented behind the sewing machine and could whip up an outfit in no time! She was best known for her one-of-a-kind creations.

Mickey was a classy woman who perfected elegance when she needed to but also knew how to bring it down a notch and roll up her sleeves when she had to. She had a heart of gold and a personality to match. She was a godly woman. Mickey attended Holy Family Catholic Church before her illness. She retired from Community Blood Bank in 2005 where she held the position of Hospital Services Manager. Before that, she held positions in accounting for Community Blood Bank, Hygeia and Key City Vending companies.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, several of her brothers and sisters, and grandson. Mickey is survived by her 3 children and spouses whom she loved, David (Gracie) Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, Melissa (Alex) Gamez of Corpus Christi and Patty (Wade) Perkins of Lafayette, Louisiana. Her five grandchildren include, Michael Ruiz (2021) of Corpus Christi, David Joseph Rodriguez of Berkeley, CA, Haley Perkins of Nashville, TN, Jennifer Perkins of Lafayette, LA and Alyssa Rodriguez of Corpus Christi.

Services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Guardian Funeral Home located at 5922 Crosstown in Corpus Christi, Texas as follows: Visitation will be held at 8:30am-11:00, The Holy Rosary will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at 1130am, Funeral Mass to follow at 12pm and burial at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery will be at 2pm.

Pallbearers are as follows Joe Reyes Jr., Javier Rodriguez, Luis Rodriguez Jr., Adrian Rodriguez and David Joseph Rodriguez. Honorary Pallbearer, Luis Rodriguez.
