IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Manuel Anthony
Govea
March 6, 1977 – April 13, 2025
March 6, 1977 – April 13, 2025
On April 13, 2025, the world lost a bright light with the passing of Manuel Anthony Govea, affectionately known as Anthony, was a man who lit up every room he walked into. He will be remembered as a loving husband, proud father, grandfather, son, nephew, cousin, loyal friend, and a familiar face behind the bar. Born on March 6, 1977, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Anthony lived a life full of love, laughter, and connection. At the age of 48, he left us too soon, but his legacy will forever warm our hearts and fill our memories.
Anthony was a beacon of positivity, with a heart of gold and a smile that could brighten the darkest of days. His sense of humor was unmatched, and he had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. Whether you met him at a gathering or he was serving you a drink as one of Corpus Christi's well-known bartenders, Anthony had a way of making you feel like family. Anthony had an unparalleled talent for making others smile. His quick wit and heart of gold made him the life of any party, always ready with a joke or a kind word. He had a natural ability to lift the spirits of those around him, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was the kind of person who never met a stranger. If you ever walked into his bar feeling down, you left with a smile and perhaps a good story or two. Known for his love of sports, Manuel was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, and Golden State Warriors. He found joy in watching games, playing video games, and kicking back with a few cold ones surrounded by friends and laughter. His quick wit, easygoing nature, and generous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone lucky enough to spend time with him.
Anthony is preceded in death by his grandparents, Luis S. Govea Sr., Alicia M. Govea, his uncles, Luis S. Govea Jr, and Richard J Govea, who surely welcomed him with open arms.
For over 22 beautiful years together, the love of his life Nicole, stood by his side where they were filled with love, laughter, and countless memories that will forever be treasured. Their bond was an inspiration to everyone who knew them. Anthony's proudest moments were undoubtedly becoming a father, and later a grandfather.
Anthony shared his life with the love of his life, Nicole Lopez. Together, they built a family that was his pride and joy. His greatest accomplishments were not measured in awards or accolades but in the love he gave and received from his family. He was a devoted father to sons, Damion X. Govea and Christopher A. Lopez (Angelina), and daughter, Vivianna A. Lopez, and a cherished grandfather whose eyes twinkled at the mere mention of his granddaughter. He is survived by his mother, Norma J. Govea, aunt, Vivian Govea-De La Fuente (Catarino) and numerous cousins.
To celebrate Anthony's life and legacy, a funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Family and friends are invited to gather at 4:00pm with services beginning at 6:30pm. It will be a time to share stories, laughter, and tears as we remember a man who touched so many lives.
In closing, we, the family of Anthony Govea, wish to express our heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of comfort and strength for us all. Though gone from our sight, Anthony's memory will live on in the stories we share, the laughs we remember, and the love he gave so freely.
