IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lydia Ruiz
Rosales
June 1, 1944 – August 29, 2023
Lydia R. Rosales, 79, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in Corpus Christi, Texas
Lydia was born in Lockhart, Texas on June 1, 1944, to Maria Ruiz Garcia.
Lydia is survived by her daughters, sons and grandchildren, Rachael Rosales, and grandson Dakota Rosales; Rebecca Rosales Chavarria, Son in Law, Manuel Chavarria and grandson Cross Chavarria, grand-daughter, Olympia Chavarria and grandson, Cristos Chavarria; son, Robert Rosales, Daughter in Law, Sandy Rosales and grand-daughter, Amber Rosales Joslin and great grandson baby Rhodes Joslin. Her sister, Gloria Gross and nieces.
Lydia was a hardworking and beloved mother to 3 step- children people would say but for us she was "mom", she took in 3 lost children as her own and taught them all the things a mother should, she cared for them like a mother, supported them like a mother and loved them like a mother. She was our moral compass; she had a strong faith in the Lord and she prayed her rosary every day. Prayed to keep her children and grandchildren safe and out of harms way and to protect them. She wasn't perfect but she was our saving grace and we loved her dearly for it.
She worked hard as a librarian at the Main Library in Corpus and Greenwood library, reading was her favorite thing and she wanted children to enjoy it when they submersed themselves into a good book.
She was a dog lover first and foremost, but she would give her last dollars to any animal if she felt so compelled to do so. She planted flowers to give the birds and bees a place to call home and return to so they could thrive in this world. That's who she was and she was a gift to us.
She was thoughtful, humble and kind but shared an opinion when she needed to, she always felt it was worth stating at least as she lived a long life, not one without hardships but one worth living and passing along the wisdom she learned along the way.
She had a passion for the arts, music, dance, paintings, cultural beauties, travel of beautiful places and she would describe it with such wonder. She lived a life that she painted beautifully in her mind and our hope is that is what she sees when she arrived to her final resting place.
She was Lydia to most people but she was Mom, Madre, Momma, Mother to those she raised as her own. We will miss you dearly.
A memorial service will be held on September 23, 2023 in Lockhart, Texas.
