Luz Segura Galvan, 69, passed on Monday, May 6, 2013. She was born on October 26, 1943 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Santiago and Maria Segura. Luz earned her License in Vocational Nursing (LVN) and worked for Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi where she met her husband of more than 30 years, Robert G. Galvan.
Luz was known for her caring and loving nature and was a mother figure to many, giving her the nickname, 'Mama Lu.' She loved to laugh and always knew how to make others smile. Luz was an active member of the Greenwood congregation of Jehova's Witnesses and the congregation became her second family, always happy to lend a helping hand.
She is survived by her sons: Robert Galvan, Jr., David Galvan, Joe Anthony Galvan; her sisters Gloria Barrera and Carmen Vasquez and her brothers Julian Segura and Nasario Segura along with many other family members and friends.
Luz was preceded in death by her husband Robert G. Galvan, her sisters Olivia Pardo and Evangelina Metcalfe and her brothers Joe B. Segura and Jimmie Segura.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Congregation, 5436 Richter Street, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78415.
