Obituary

Luz Marina Galan Cortez left this earthly life on the 23 rd of March, 2021. She was born to Pedro Perez Galan and Lucia Moreno Galan on the 14 th of August, 1934, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

She loved dancing and was a folk dancer. She was a dance instructor and danced at many festivals in the surrounding area appearing on local television programs.   She worked many years assisting her father at Galan's Grocery and Market.

Luz Marina leaves five daughters behind to cherish her memories: Magda Evana (Juan Manuel) Tijerina of Corpus Christi, TX; Loretta Araceli (James) Sawhill of West Virginia; Sabrina Yvette Vela of San Antonio, TX; Janella Lorena (Rene) Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, TX; Jovana Lana (Brian) Guidry of Alvarado, TX.   She had eight grandchildren: Joshua John Tijerina, Jeremiah John Tijerina, Elijah John Tijerina, Desirae Brittney R. Mitchell, Ashley Nicole Rodriguez, Aaron Hernandez, Serena Hernandez, Isaiah Hernandez; and seven great-grandchildren. She has one surviving sister, Amalia Jones of California; and one brother, Pedro Luis Galan of Colorado.

Luz Marina left this earthly life to join her parents Pedro and Lucia Galan; her sister Maria Dolores Galan; her brother "Joe" Pilar Galan; and grandson Rene Desi Rodriguez.

Pall Bearers are: Joshua John Tijerina, Jeremiah John Tijerina, Elijah John Tijerina, Aaron Hernandez, Isaiah Hernandez and Rene David Rodriguez.

Public visitation will begin at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, the 30 th March, 2021, at Guardian Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Comanche Street at 11:30 on Wednesday, the 31 st of March. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Angel Bright Hospice Center for the loving care and attention given to their mother.
