Obituary

Luis Garza Jr. passed away on August 20, 2025 in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 76. He was born on October 22, 1948 in Hebbronville, Texas to Luis B. Garza and Theresa Morales Garza. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Gilma Garza and brother-in-law Olivero Garza.

Lou is survived by his wife Janie Garza of Corpus Christi, his sisters Isabel Garza, Graciela Martinez and husband Cruz, Gloria Rodriguez and husband Jessie, Diana Carreon and husband Arturo, his brother-in-law Luis Garza, his daughter Alyssa Uballe and husband Adam, and his son Marco Garza and wife Michelle, his stepdaughter Misty Pagel and husband Ezra, his stepdaughter Marisa Eastmon, and his stepson Jeremy Toungate and wife Erin.

He is survived by his 15 grandchildren - Renae Putula and husband Tom, Karis Clark and husband Joe, Brianna Torres and husband Tim, Ciara Uballe, Anessa Uballe, Gabby Garza, Ronnette Garza, Adrianna Garza, Xavier Garza, Kennedy Clay and husband Isaiah, Mellicent Eastmon, Cassius Eastmon, Boaz Pagel, Jachin Pagel, and Henry Valentine. He is also survived by his 13 great grandchildren Everly Kate, Lucie Mae, Amos, Charlie Joe, Kollie Mae, Salem, Briella, Skylie, Zylah, Zalany, Eloise, Hagen and Hayva, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Lou honorably served in the United States Air Force for 21 years, where he retired as a Master Sergeant on September 30, 1993. While serving in the Air Force, he was awarded the:

·        Air Force Training Ribbon

·        Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon

·        NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon with one oak leaf cluster

·        Air Force Longevity Service Award with four oak leaf clusters

·        Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon

·        National Defense Service Medal with one bronze service star

·        Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five oak leaf clusters

·        Air Force Organizational Excellence Award with one oak leaf cluster

·        Air Force Outstanding Unit Award

·        Air Force Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters

·        Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster

Following his military service, he was a dedicated civil servant with the United States Navy for over 15 years.

Lou was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, and attending the many sporting events and activities his grandchildren participated in, and he was a huge fan of the San Antonio SPURs, Texas Longhorns, and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved traveling and exploring with his wife Janie, discovering various breweries and distilleries around Texas, attending Renaissance and Celtic festivals, and visiting various historical and Native American sites across the country. He was kind and generous, always willing to pitch in and help people, and always brought fun and humor to every situation. He will be deeply missed by all who know him.

Public visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Guardian funeral home chapel with Military Honors at 2:30 p.m.
