Obituary

Lucinda Euresti Peña departed her loving family peacefully on February 20, 2022.  Lucinda is survived by her husband Carlos Pena, Sr.  Cynthia Peña Handson (Torie Handson), Sandra Peña (Darryl Jones), and Laura Peña (Joe Carrizales). She was preceded in death by her sons Carlos Peña, Jr., Joseph O. Peña, mother Petra Euresti, Father Tomas Euresti, Jr., brother Servando Euresti and sister Otilia Viella.
Lucinda was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on January 26, 1951, to Father Tomas Euresti Jr. and Mother Petra R. Euresti. Lucinda was a devoted wife to Carlos Peña, Sr. for nearly 49 years. Lucy, as called by everyone who knew her, graduated from West Oso High School in 1970. She studied at Del Mar College and began a career working at Spohn Hospital and Memorial Hospital in the medical records, billing and the admitting departments.  She enjoyed this for over 40 years.
After a long successful career, she retired early to help care for her family during their illnesses.  She had a big heart and was always lending a hand to those in need.  She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Pilar Catholic Church.  She was a devoted Catholic who believed in the power of prayer and had unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.  Lucinda raised her family with love and devotion in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Lucy or "Wela", as her grandchildren referred to her, dedicated her life to spending time with her family.  Always on the go, she could be found at any event supporting her grandchildren in their many activities. She beamed with pride when telling stories about them; they were her world.  Although she will be greatly missed, the memories made will live on forever.
Lucinda is survived by he husband, daughters, siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren-Jade, Jasmine, Joe Jr., Jordan, Kimberley, Kyle, Talianna, Tyler, Tjaden and Triston.
Public Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church with the Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
