After battling a long illness, on March 16, 2016, Luciano Alvarez, 73, passed away with his family by his side.
Luciano was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on August 11, 1942. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Susie Alvarez, and his brother, Johnny Alvarez.
Luciano's life will forever be cherished by his beloved wife of 31 years, Bertha; his children, Diana (Peter) Quesada, Becky (Robert) Maldonado, Luciano (Suzette) Alvarez Jr., Petra (John Albert) Saucedo, Michael (Vanessa) Deases, and Janet Bazan; his 19 grandchildren; his 5 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Olga Cantu, Esperanza (Terry) Moore, Mack (Angie) Alvarez, Mary (Carlos) Garcia, Ninfa (Rey) De Leon, Lidia (Norbert) Bueno; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Luciano retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot in 2003 . He loved to BBQ, watch golf and football especially the Cowboys, the OSU Buckeyes, and the UofL Cards. Family was the most important thing in his life.
Luciano was not afraid. He knew this was his temporary home. He will be dearly missed but his spirit and love will continue to live in our hearts.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Guardian Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm that evening. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Holy Family Church with the burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends are welcome to a gathering with refreshments at the Corpus Christi Professional Firefighters hall 6014 Ayers St.
