IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lois M.
Mamo
July 23, 1937 – November 20, 2023
Lois M. Mamo, 86, of Corpus Christi, TX sadly passed away quietly on Tuesday, November 20, 2023.
Ms. Mamo was born Lois Marie Travis on July 23, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan to parents, Guy and Anette Travis. It was through an introduction by her sister, Cathy, that Lois met Cecil Mamo, who was working at the Ford Motor Company. While Lois and Cecil married on July 8, 1967, they quickly moved to Harrisville, Michigan with their three sons and purchased a small business that provided fishing and hunting amenities, gas, food, and hospitality services to vacationers in northern Michigan. The business, dubbed Mamo & Sons, was successfully built on relationships, and caring for the community. In 1982, Cecil and Lois moved to the Alpena, Michigan area where they broadened their business ownership skills and started a local printing business, "Speedy Printing". In their later years, Lois and Cecil escaped the harsh Michigan winters and migrated to Cape Coral, Florida and even spent a year abroad living in Italy. Lois was a dedicated wife and mother, who cherished her family and loved sports and fireworks.
Surviving are her three sons; Sandy (Terri) Mamo of Livonia, MI, Guy (Mari) Butler of Corpus Christi, TX, Paul (Stephanie) Mamo of Washington DC, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A short committal service will be held in her honor on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Great Lakes National Cemetery at 4200 Belford Road in Holly, Michigan 48442, where Lois will be put to rest alongside her husband (Cecil) of 42 years.
