Dr. Leonardo Chapa-Carrillo, age 73 was called into the arms of his Heavenly Father on August 11, 2018. Leonardo was born on November 21, 1944 in Benavidez, Texas to Manuel M. Carrillo and Elida Ch. Carrillo Leonardo left a legacy of faith and love. For his whole life Leonardo moved many of his family members to scripture, music, and volunteering. He was a Grass Roots community leader, performer, and organizer that attracted people around him to do good works. Carrillo is known for his motivating life lessons, wit, and humor that often occurred in his music. He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Elida Carrillo, and his two older brothers, Antonio C. Carrillo and Valentine Carrillo, Sr. Leonardo is survived by his siblings, Raul Alfonso and (Eve) Carrillo and Olga Diana Gonzalez.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2018 at Guardian funeral home chapel ''A"" with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic church, 2509 Nogales/MacArthur. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park cemetery, 2731 Comanche St. A private family reception will be held after at 5:00 p.m. in his home. A Memorial to Dr. Carrillo will also be held on Sunday, August 19th, at the Antonio Garcia Center located on Agnes at 5:00 p.m.
