IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laura Christina
Miller
August 17, 1975 – January 30, 2022
Laura Christina "Christi" Miller, who was born on August 17, 1975 in Waco, Texas to Thomas David Miller and Sharon Mays Miller, courageously lost her battle with complications related to cancer on January 30, 2022.
Christi attended schools in Corpus Christi graduating from Ray High School before completing her degree in education from Texas A and M – Corpus Christi. While working as a second-grade teacher at Windsor Park Elementary, Christi began working on her Master's degree in Counseling. She then worked as a school counselor for Mary Carroll High School and other schools. Christi enjoyed teaching and working as a counselor, and she often shared the accomplishments of her former students.
Christi enjoyed cooking, walking and jogging, collecting heart-shaped rocks and stones, spending time with friends, and going to the beach. Christi was well-known by her friends to have a great fashion sense. She also supported dog and cat shelters, where she adopted her 'pet family' of Pumpkin, a red classic tabby cat, and Angelo, an energetic Chihuahua. Both Pumpkin and Angelo were with Christi when she passed, along with Christi's mother.
Christi was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas and Grace Miller of Richardson, Texas and Page and Dr. Mary Joyce Mays of Waco and San Angelo, Texas, respectively.
Christi is survived by her father from Dallas and her mother from Corpus Christi. Christi is further survived by her sisters Diana Lauren and Tammy Botello from Corpus Christi, her half-brother Bryan Williams from Round Rock, and her half-sisters: Tonya and Monica from the Dallas area. She is also survived by her uncles: Bob Haggerty (Margaret) from Portsmouth, VA; David Mays (Anita) from Baird, Texas and Fate Mays from Corpus Christi, Texas. Other survivors include her numerous cousins from Dallas, and her cousins: Jason (Melissa) Mays and James Mays from Waco and Jeremy Mays from Cross Plains, Texas. In addition, Christi is survived by her nephew, Nate Higgins (Jade) and his son, Harrison Gray Higgins and her niece, Mary Higgins, both of Corpus Christi. Finally, Christi leaves behind many cherished friends.
Christi has said that she wanted her service to be a "celebration of life" hoping that those in attendance would wear bright colors.
In lieu of flowers, Christi had asked that donations could be made to a pet shelter of your choice. The love which she freely gave will live on for generations to come.
Public Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A, with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at 5:00 p.m. that evening.
