IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry
Benavides
July 30, 1960 – September 30, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Benavides, a beloved father, grandfather, companion, brother, and friend, who left this world unexpectedly on September 30, 2025. Born on July 30, 1960 in Corpus Christi to his parents Raymundo and Elida Benavides, Larry was a man of great character, known for his immense heart and unforgettable sense of humor that could light up even the darkest moments. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Larry is preceded in death by his devoted parents, Raymundo and Elida Benavides, his beloved grandmother Tina Lopez, and his brother Robert Benavides Sr. Their absence is felt deeply, yet their memories will forever remain a part of Larry's legacy.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Rebecca Galvan, with whom he shared over a decade of love and companionship. Together, they built a life filled with joy and support for one another. Larry was a proud father, leaving behind four children who were his pride and joy: Elizabeth R. Benavides, Larry R. (Liliana) Benavides Jr., Elijah J. Benavides, and Domingo Moya, whom he loved as a son. His grandchildren, Peyton J. Morales, Lukas J. Benavides, and Jace M. Benavides, brought him immense happiness, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Larry's bonds extended beyond his immediate family. He leaves behind siblings Carmen Benavides-Zaragoza, Armando (Armira) Benavides, and Mike (Denise) Benavides, along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly and who will carry forward his spirit and values.
Professionally, Larry dedicated many years to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline, where he served as an orderly in the operating room. He also spent many years as a Direct Care Worker, guiding children and their families together. His commitment to his work was evident, and he was respected and admired by his colleagues for the care and compassion he showed to others.
Larry was a passionate sports enthusiast, especially as an avid Houston Astros fan. He also enjoyed the excitement of professional wrestling and the thrill of football games, especially the Dallas Cowboys. His love for these activities was often interwoven with laughter and camaraderie, bringing friends and family together.
Known for his remarkable sense of humor, Larry had the unique ability to find laughter in the most challenging moments. His jokes and playful spirit not only provided joy to those around him but also served as a reminder of the importance of positivity and resilience in life.
As we gather to remember Larry, we honor a man whose life was a shining example of love, strength, and humor. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him but will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Larry Benavides leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories that will not be forgotten.
