Kinsey Ray Hall, age 72, of Corpus Christi, Texas, went to be in the comfort of the Lord on August 15, 2026, surrounded by family and love at Audie Murphy VA Hospital.

Kinsey was born on February 12, 1954, to Norris Hall and Lillie Mae Ellison-Hall in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he resided for the greater part of his life.

He was raised in the Word of God from a young age, and was a lifelong member of Providence COGIC, formerly known as Watkins Temple and The Joy Spot. He carried the Lord’s joy through the troubles and seasons of his life. In his final days, he encouraged others to turn their troubles over to God and lay their burdens down.

Kinsey attended Carver Elementary and Cunningham Middle School before graduating from Moody High School in 1972.

Even in his youth, Kinsey was devoted to service of community and the fellowship of brethren. He was a member of Cub Scouts Pack 30, Boy Scouts of America Troop 160 and Explorers Post 192. His early experiences in service, fellowship and leadership helped propel him toward what would become one of the proudest chapters of his life: serving in the United States Army.

Upon high school graduation, he enlisted in the Army, where he proudly served his country with valor, honor, and utmost pride from 1972 to 1979. His military service brought him immense joy and took him around the world, including to Mintz, Germany, Africa, and Lebanon – places and experiences he loved to reminisce about throughout his life.

Kinsey was a proud veteran, and he never hid his Army pride. He proudly wore his military memorabilia, celebrated service holidays and could often be found sharing spirited stories about his time in the Army.

After his military service, Kinsey attended Del Mar College, where he enrolled in the Radio and Television Communications program. He later transferred to Corpus Christi State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television and Communication in 1988.

Kinsey went on to be employed with The Core of Engineers, CCAD, and retired from the United States Postal Service.

Kinsey married LaSherar’l Brown on February 14, 1986. From their union came their daughter, Shayla Vikay Hall. From the moment she was born, Shayla became Kinsey’s second heartbeat and their bond remained one of the most important relationships in both of their lives. He adored his daughter, and she looked to him not only as her father, but as a constant source of love, companionship and joy.

The two shared countless memories together, including one of their favorite traditions: attending Corpus Christi Hooks baseball games. They went to support the Hooks year after year, and each season brought another opportunity to take their annual selfie at the ballpark. The tradition became so much a part of their time together that one year Kinsey turned to Shayla and simply asked, “So are we going to take a selfie?” It was a small moment, but one that captured the easy companionship and playful spirit they shared.

Kinsey and Shayla shared countless outings including concerts. To Shayla, her father was one of the coolest and most stylish people she knew. He was her constant companion and the most important man in her life, and she was the center of his.

Kinsey took tremendous pride in being Shayla’s father, and his love for his only child was evident to everyone around them. Their relationship was filled with laughter, affection and a deep friendship throughout their adult lives.

Later in life, Kinsey met his beloved companion, Insun Lee-Harris. Through this relationship, he gained two of the titles he cherished most among the many roles he held in his life: Grandpa and Great-Grandpa. He was deeply involved in the lives of his grandchildren, sharing his wisdom, knowledge, faith and life lessons, always offering a listening ear and plenty of spoiling.

Kinsey was preceded in death by his father, Norris Hall; his mother, Lillie Mae Ellison-Hall; his brothers, Ermis J. Hall and Darnell Hall; and his sister, Kayleen Hall.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Shayla V. Hall of Corpus Christi, Texas; LaSherar'l Brown-Hall of Lockhart, Texas; Insun Lee-Harris of Corpus Christi, Texas; granddaughters Jasmine Harris, Aysa Harris and Isabella Harris; grandsons Jalen Harris, Joseph Harris Jr., Clinton Harris and Jayden Harris; and great-grandchildren Riley, Brayden, Maxwell and Maximus. He is also survived by his siblings Curtis Grant (Vera) Hall of Corpus Christi, Texas; Vicki (Harry Lee) Perry of Pearland, Texas; Tene Hall of Corpus Christi, Texas; and sister-in-law LUcy Hall of Corpus Christi, Texas, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Kinsey was a friend to all who knew him, but he held a special place in his heart for a group of lifelong childhood friends from the New Edition neighborhood: Clifford Smoots Jr. (Beaver), Terry Shaw, Rickey and Anne Walker, Danny Warren and Perry Polk.

Kinsey was an avid reader, a history enthusiast, a sports fan, and a WWE Wrestling FANATIC! He - and ANYone who was around him and the television - faithfully indulged in his love of wrestling every week throughout his life.

He was known and loved for his playful spirit, his silliness and his ability to bring laughter wherever he went. Kinsey’s zest for life, genuine friendship and unwavering joy touched countless people. He will be deeply missed, but his laughter, stories, faith and love will remain vividly remembered by all who knew.                                                           A Wake will be held from 5:00 p.m. til 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Guardian Funeral Home. 5922 Crosstown (highway 286 South). Military honors  and the funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2026, at Guardian funeral home. Burial to followed at Fleming Memorial Cemetery, 6959 Old Colony Line Rd, Lockhart, TX, 78644 at 3:00 p.m.
