Karl Vaughn
Fahrenthold
July 25, 1944 – April 25, 2026
Karl Vaughn Fahrenthold, a man defined by adventure and independence, passed away on April 25, 2026, at the age of 81.
Born on July 25, 1944, Karl lived a life marked by hard work, resilience, and a passion for the outdoors. He dedicated many years to ARCO Oil Company, where his career took him from Texas to Alaska. For years, Karl commuted to Prudhoe Bay every other week, a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment, before eventually retiring.
Karl embraced life with a true spirit of adventure. He found great joy riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, traveling nearly 80,000 miles across the country. His journeys often led him to the mountains and forests he loved most—especially in Oregon—where he found peace in nature and solitude. Camping, hiking, and fishing were among his greatest pleasures, and he took pride in living self-sufficiently and staying connected to the land. He also enjoyed taking his metal detector along on his travels, always eager to explore and uncover hidden treasures wherever he went.
He also appreciated life’s simple joys, including time spent at casinos and playing scratch-off games, always bringing a sense of fun and excitement to those around him.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Harry Fahrenthold and Dorothy Mae Fahrenthold, and his siblings, Lynda J. Dotson and Dana R. Fahrenthold.
He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Harry D. Fahrenthold; Kathleen K. and Joe Rodriguez; and Darlene G. and Rodney Cranston.
Karl’s legacy lives on through his children: Terry Fahrenthold; Dave and Courtney Fahrenthold; Eric Fahrenthold; and Brian Fahrenthold.
He was a proud grandfather to Austin and Kelly Fahrenthold; Brittany and Jeremiah Fahrenthold; Tarryn Mueller; Kazsa Fahrenthold; Maylene Fahrenthold; Nanaka Fahrenthold; Brody Fahrenthold; Austin and Caitlynn Reddick; and Addison Reddick. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren.
Karl will be remembered for his rugged independence, his love of the open road, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. His stories, his journeys, and his enduring love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
