IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen
Edwards
December 12, 1938 – February 17, 2025
On February 17, 2025, Karen Edwards left her earthly home to sing in the heavenly choir. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Morris and Dorothea Frack. Morris was an engineer who designed oil field equipment. Dorothea was a talented singer, choir leader, and violinist that played in the Oklahoma City Symphony Orchestra. Due to the nature of his profession, Morris and family moved frequently, so Karen and her sister, Pat, grew up in several locations throughout Texas. After graduating high school in Seguin, Texas, she started college as a Music Major and then switched to Education with a concentration in English. Upon graduation from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in 1960, she worked as a teacher in Lubbock before taking over as Program Director of the Texas Tech University Student Center.
In 1964, Karen moved to Corpus Christi working first as a teacher, then as a realtor before returning to teaching to finish up her career. The two common threads that ran throughout her life were service to others and a commitment to excellence. As a realtor, she was a top producer, being named Realtor Associate of the Year in 1977. She served as Sales Manager for two different brokerages, and in Director roles at both the Builders Association of Corpus Christi as well as the Corpus Christi Board of Realtors. In 1988, Karen was elected President of the Woman's Council of Realtors, and in 1989 was named their Woman of the Year. She was also a talented teacher with a love of the written word and returned to teaching full time in 2004. She unlocked a love of reading for many students and gave them a gift they would have for a lifetime.
She had a wonderful voice, her choir director at First Baptist said was "one of the most beautiful and natural soprano tones I have ever heard". Karen shared her love of music by singing at various weddings, civic events, and in the Harbor Playhouse Production of Barham where she played Jenny Lind the "Swedish Nightingale". She was a 40 year member of the First baptist church and as a choir member was a worship service soloist many times and sang at various church functions
Preceding Karen in death are her parents Morris and Dorothea Frack and sister Pat.
She is survived by her husband Bill; sons Eric Moore of Dallas, Corey Moore and Kelly Moore both of Corpus Christi; 4 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 3115 Ocean Drive, on Friday, February 28, 2025. There will be an opportunity to visit with the family in the Church Parlor at 10:00am followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00am with the burial to follow at 1pm at Seaside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the First Baptist Church music ministry, Windsor park Baptist Church or to your favorite charity
