Karen Singleton Bridwell of Corpus Christi, Texas died December 10, 2021. She was born in Dallas, Texas on July 11, 1941, the daughter of Robert Franklin Singleton and Don Paula Fitzhugh Singleton. Karen graduated from Dallas' Hillcrest High School in 1959 and then attended East Texas State University. While there she married Mike Thomas. Her son Kevin Michael Thomas was born in 1963 and she received her Bachelor's degree from ETSU in 1964. After the Thomases moved to Corpus Christi, Karen began a 34-year career in elementary education. During those years she taught at several local schools, divorced, married Ed Grant, acquired a Master's degree from TAMUCC, and became the Principal of Menger and later Yeager Elementary Schools. While at Yeager, an article on Texas public education in Texas Monthly rated Yeager as the best public elementary school in Corpus Christi. After leaving CCISD in 1998, Karen worked for the local Education Service Center, TAMUCC, and finally as the director of the Teacher Certification Center at Del Mar College. After Ed Grant's death, she married Robert Bridwell in 1991 and they spent the next thirty years winding down their careers and travelling, visiting nearly 100 countries. Karen is survived by her husband Robert, her older son Kevin Michael Thomas, daughter-in law Kim Thomas, younger son Michael Bridwell, and a sister, Heather Jordon.

Karen was an active member of All Saints' Episcopal Church in Corpus Christi where her funeral rites will be held on December 20 at 3:00 pm.
