Juventino “Tino” Gutierrez Jr., 79, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on April 7, 2026. A man of quiet strength and many talents, Tino’s life was defined by his service to his country and his unwavering devotion to his family.

A Life of Service and Craft-

Born on April 20, 1946, in Encinal, Texas, Tino grew up with a strong work ethic that guided him throughout his life. After attending Tuloso-Midway High School, he answered the call of duty and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. As a mortarman, he demonstrated courage and resilience, earning a level of respect from his peers and family that remained a point of pride throughout his life.

Following his military service, Tino became a master of many trades. He was a skilled carpenter and a small business owner, operating his own dump truck. He eventually retired from the U.S. National Park Service, where he worked at the Padre Island National Seashore, a place that mirrored his love for the Texas coast.

Family and Passions-

Known to many as "Tino", he was a voracious reader who never stopped learning. He found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially eating out and sharing a meal with his beloved family.

Survivors and Legacy-

Tino is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Rosa Lasos Gutierrez; parents, Juventino Gutierrez Sr. and Juanita Ramon Gutierrez; sister, Janie Longoria and his brother, Joel Gutierrez.

Tino’s legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his children, Juventino Gutierrez III (Tammy), Belinda G. Lopez (Juan), and Jose M. Gutierrez; siblings, Jose Gutierrez, and Agapita Gutierrez; grandchildren, Jessica Gutierrez, Selena Saenz, Emmanuel Saenz, and Rosa Gutierrez; and great-grandchildren, Zara Rose and Ashor.

A Celebration of Life with full military honors will be held at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery 9974 IH 37 Access Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78410. (Date and time to be announced)
