Juanita Juarez Yanez of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away peacefullywith family surrounding her on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the age of 77. Juanita worked as a housekeeper for many years with Mr. Robert and Dr. Loyce Hagens. She became part of their extended family and remained with them until both of their passing. Special mention goes out to those she held so close to her heart. Laura Dowley, Leila Stevenson, Betsy Kime and Courtney Kime Hanson, thank you for loving her and allowing her to be a part of your lives.
Juanita was born to Jose Juarez Sr and Juanita Reyna Barrera. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Miguel Juarez, George Castro (a Marine she was so proud of), Felix Barrera, Frank and Delia Barrera Jr; Brother in law, Alberto Davila and niece, Lisa Davila.
She is survived by her daughters Velma M. Yanez, Veronica (Gerald) Yanez- Wilson and son, Saul (Chevy) Villarreal. Grandchildren Isaiah A. Hernandez, Emily J. Yanez, Syndnie R. Yanez ,Gerald Wilson Jr., and honorary grandchild Brandon Garza DeSpain. Her sisters, Beatrice (Alfonso) Garcia of Houston, Texas, Gloria (Juan) Cueva, Luz Davila and one brother Jose Juarez. Neices and nephews including those closest to her; Juan, Gabriel and Marcos Cueva, Alfonso Jr. and Alejandro Garcia, Alianna Ramos, Leroy Barrera, Valerie Villanueva, Amanda Davila and Albert Davila as well as numerous 'adopted' kids. She was Mom to all.
Israel Montalvo III, Gloria DeSpain, Beatrice Gallagher, Lee and Mona Garza. To all of you, there are no words. Each of you played such a major role in her life and I am forever grateful for all of you. You know what you've done for her. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Juanita loved watching sports, in particular 'HER Spurs and 49ers' as she put it. She also had a love for the Cowboys, but in her words "back when they were a real team, before they did Tom Landry wrong" She felt VERY strongly about this and made it known to all who cheered for them that she did not like them. She attended Roy Miller high school and took pride in the motto 'Once a Buc Always a Buc!'.
Services to be held at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, Tx 78417 on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Visitation 3-6pm with a Rosary to be recited at 6 pm the same evening.
