Juanita P. Torres, born on March 15, 1940, in Edinburg, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose presence will be dearly missed by all who love her.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Sara Portales.  She is survived by her loving  husband of 64 years, Jesus Torres.  Her loving children: son Jaime Torres (Corina), daughter Carol Torres, son Jesse Torres (Sonya), and daughter Cynthia Delgadillo (Fred). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Melanie Delgadillo, Eddie Vasquez (Lydia) Eric Delgadillo (Kristin), Natalie Vasquez (Matt Vella), Nathan Delgadillo, Kelly Torres, Kevin Torres, and Jesse Torres as well as her treasured great-grandchildren: Jaxson, Madison, Penelope, Emilia, Clay and a Sister, Mary Rosas.

Juanita found immense joy in watching her grandchildren participate in various activities, from baseball , soccer to karate, cheer, and band. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

A devout Catholic woman of deep faith and compassion, Juanita spent hours praying for those she loved, knew, and even for those she didn't know. Her unwavering belief and passion in the power of prayer and her love for the Lord brought her much joy and comfort and hope to many.

Known for her outgoing playful, positive and joyful outlook on life, she would often be heard saying , "Pura Vida!" a phrase that encapsulated her love for life and her enduring spirit.

Juanita's legacy of her faith in Christ, love, joy, playfulness and positivity will live on in the hearts of her all who love her.

Public visitation will begin at 5:00p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Guardian funeral home with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. followed by shared memories of Janie's life. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Guardian funeral home at 9:00 a.m. a funeral procession will depart Guardian at 11:30 a.m. for a Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon at St. Patrick Catholic church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens cemetery.
