Juan G. Vargas, 68, passed away on December 25, 2022 in his home. He was born on October 19, 1955 to Juan Vargas and Victoria Luis.

"Johnny" as he was affectionately called, shared his kind and generous spirit, never having met a stranger and every animal found a home in him.  Whether you needed an ear to listen or a cold beer, he was always there.  Johnny was young at heart, facing whatever life threw at him with humor. His humorous words and outlook were wise, common sense life lessons.  He joined the US Marine Corps in 1972 at the age of 17.  Johnny enjoyed working with his hands and was a machinist by trade having worked at Horton Automatics for over 20 years and retiring from CCAD in 2019.

He leaves behind his children Dominic and Crystal Vargas along with his grandchildren: Monica, Dominic J. Vargas, John Carlos, Jack Leon, and Caitlin Elaine, and a great-grandson, John Carlos Jr. He is survived by his mother, Vickie (Greg) Luis, his brothers and sisters: Dolores (Tony), Diana (Allen), Rudy, Kathy, Karen, Patricia, Mari Ann, and Greg. Johnny also leaves his many friends a lifetime of memories. He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Vargas.

Family will be gathering on January 5th from 5-8pm at Guardian Funeral Home to celebrate the life of Juan G. Vargas. and a Memorial Service will be held at 6:30pm . There will also be a burial at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery on January 10th at 10am .
