Juan B. Lerma, 74, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025 after a three year battle with cancer. He was born on May 20, 1951 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was the devoted husband of Elida Lerma and a dedicated father to his two daughters Annabelle Lerma and Amanda Lerma Flores.
Juan was raised in Mathis, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&I University at Corpus Christi. He worked as a Field Representative with the City of Corpus Christi WasteWater department for 40 years, where he volunteered with many organizations such as the United Way, Special Olympics, and Operation Paint Brush.
Juan above all else was a humble and loyal servant. He was a cherished member of the Corpus Christi Catholic community, serving with the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Pilar. He later continued his leadership role as a founding member of the Corpus Christi Cathedral K of C. Juan was a devout volunteer with the choir, breakfast club and had a great passion for serving as an usher during mass.
He was a faithful family man, who valued family celebrations, Sunday football games or weekly baseball games with his many grandchildren.
Juan is survived by his wife Elida, his daughter Annabelle (David) and Amanda (Glenn), grandchildren, Anthony, Analaya(Brian), Andrew, A'Mya, Christopher(Hailey), Joby, Aaron, Athena, Aiden, and great grandchildren, twins, Onyx and Ramona. His surviving siblings include Joe, Robert, Ruben, Jesse Lerma, Irma Garcia and his many nieces and nephews.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents Benito and Juanita Lerma, siblings Armando, Benito Jr., Sammy Lerma, and Eva Trejo.
Juan was known for his strength, kindness, humor, and generosity to others. His unwavering service in the Catholic Church and throughout the community was a true example of a life well lived. His memory will live on through his children and grandchildren through their acts of service.
A visitation will begin at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025 at Guardian Funeral Home, with the rosary being recited at 6:30pm.
Visitation will continue on Thursday, June 19, at 8:00 am at Guardian funeral home with the funeral procession to depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic church on Comanche St. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park cemetery at 11:30 am.
