Obituary

Juan Fuentes, 78 was born December 28, 1939 in Edinburgh, Texas. He was born to Gilberto Fuentes and Estelle Garcia. Juan is preceded in death by his two sisters, Aurora Aguirre and Andrea Fuentes. He is survived by his elder brother Ramiro Fuentes (Tina), Velia Fuentes, daughters Anita Alvarado, Yvonne Rhodes, Bridgette Hinojosa (Rene) and son Gilbert Fuentes (Celina). Grandchildren Gilbert Jr., Eloy, Drake, Cezar, Savanna, Gilbert, Elise, Elena, Diego, Michael, John, Erin, Blanca, Lucky and Lucy. He is also survived by his long term companion, Amada Hinojosa. He also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Juan proudly served in United States Army and was a contender for the US Olympic boxing team. He had many amazing stories about his adventures overseas in Europe while he served as a merchant marine. Juan worked for the City of Corpus Christi. Juan volunteered many years with Calallen youth football and baseball. In his retirement he enjoyed reading the daily paper, watching sports, especially boxing. He was an avid Ranger and Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed gambling trips with his children.
PUBLIC VISITATION WILL BEGIN AT 3:00 TO 6:00 P.M. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2018 AT GUARDIAN FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL 'A' WITH A HOLY ROSARY TO BE RECITED AT 4:00 P.M.  BURIAL OF CREMAINS WILL BE AT 10:00 A.M. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2018 AT THE COASTAL BEND STATE VETERANS CEMETERY 9974 IH 37 WITH MILITARY HONORS.
