Juan "Johnny" Francisco Alaniz, 66, returned to his heavenly home on September 4, 2018. Johnny was born on November 27, 1951 to the late Juan Manuel Alaniz and Elma Valdez Corona. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from the National Guard as Sergeant First Class after 23 years of service. After retirement he returned to school and attained his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Johnny was a family man who enjoyed spending time with children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. He will always be remembered for his generosity, his story-telling, his kind and open heart and deep love for his children.
He was preceded in death by his father Juan Manuel Alaniz. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sylvia Alaniz, his children John Paul Alaniz, Jason Alaniz (Jennifer), Jennifer Alaniz, and Janis Alaniz (Manuel). He was a wonderful Popo to his 10 grandchildren and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 4-9pm at Guardian Funeral Home (5922 Crosstown) with a rosary service being recited at 7pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 10, 2018 at Guardian Funeral Home beginning at 9am with a procession to St. Patricks Catholic Church for a Mass to celebrate his life at 11:30. Interment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery located at 9974 IH 37 Access Road in Corpus Christi, Texas.
