Joseph Michael Kostyn, Jr., of Aransas Pass, Texas passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 after a brief illness. He was 87 years old. Joe was born on March 19, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late Joseph Sr. and Antonia (Kowalski) Kostyn.
After High School Joe enlisted in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran having proudly served for 21 years receiving his honorable discharge in May of 1977. Following his service in the Army, Joe moved to Aransas Pass, Texas where he met and married the love of his life Sara Bezdek. Together they owned and operated several small businesses including the Causeway Bait Stand. Joe also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with Sara always looking for a new adventure.
Survivors include his five children, sons Joseph (Barbara) Kostyn of Mosinee, Wisconsin, Michael Kostyn of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and Andrew (Dana) Kostyn of Arnold, Maryland, a daughter Jennifer McClain of Disputanta, Virgina and a stepdaughter Lisa (Michael) Boggs of Corpus Christi, Texas. Two sisters, Dolores Smedbron and Sue (Douglas) Tuxhorn, sister in law Fran Kostyn all of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his wife Sara, three brothers, Andrew, Michael and Robert Kostyn and stepson Paul Grissom.
He will be deeply missed by his many friends at the RV park where he could be seen driving his golf cart looking for a buddy to share a story and a beer. The family would like to extend a personal thank you to Joe's dear friends who watched over him. Paul, Charlie, Kathleen and Steve to name a few.
In honoring Joe's wishes there will be no service. His family will honor his memory privately.
