Obituary

Mr. Jose Yanez Jr., also known to many as "Joe" and for some "Bronco Joe", returned to his heavenly home on April 23, 2020, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was 73 years old.

Joe was born on September 28, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Jose and Alejandra Yanez.

After graduating from South San High School in San Antonio, Texas, he joined the Air Force and began his military career, which moved him and his first wife to London, England. For the better part of his military career he served as an air traffic controller. After an honorable discharge and many service recognition's, he returned to Texas with his family to pursue a degree in education. His degree would bring teaching opportunities which included, being a high school coach and later a history teacher.

Joe Yanez met the love of his life, Verna, they married September 9, 2004. They enjoyed a wonderful life together serving the Lord and fellow shipping with loved ones.

Joe was an outdoorsman at heart. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. He was also a fan of sports and enjoyed attending professional sporting events. Joe was a faithful follower of Christ and served in the church for many years. He was an active and dedicated member of Segunda Iglesia Bautista, and often participated in serving the community and helping the homeless.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Verna Yanez; his three children: Criselda (Mark) Miller, Adie Yanez, and Jacob Yanez; siblings: Cruz (Vera), Benito (Lydia), Alex (Lora), Bobby, and his sister Eva Maruffo; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Henry Yanez.

Joe was an incredible story teller and enjoyed bringing happiness to those he knew through his wit and humor. He was loved by all who had the privilege to know him and will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank Angel Bright Hospice, and all of those who lovingly cared for Joe at the end of his life.

Public Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Guardian Funeral Home with a Funeral Service to begin at 7 p.m. that evening. Steve Jaquez will officiate the ceremony and all are welcome to attend and celebrate Joe's life.

A Chapel Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A.
Burial will follow in the Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Mark Alaniz, Sebastian Guerra, Mason Miller, John Ririe, Art Yanez, and David Yanez.
