Jose was born to the late Guadalupe and Encarnacion Velez, on July 13, 1943, in Tierras Coloradas, Mexico. After retirement he enjoyed fishing and fixing fishing reels.  He also enjoyed spending time and talking with his neighborhood friends.  His greatest love were his grandchildren.

Jose leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 47 years Manuela Velez, daughters Elena Martinez (Roberto), Lorena Gonzalez (Joel), and his grandchildren Jose Roberto, Maria Alexia, Maria Teresa, and Ariana.

A celebration of Jose's life will be held at Guardian Funeral Home & Crematory, 5922 Crosstown Access Rd, Corpus Christi, TX, on December 19, 2019, visitation will be from 5:00pm-9:00pm, with a rosary at 7:00pm.  The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 11:30am at Nuestra Senora de San Juan de Los Lagos, 1755 Frio St, Corpus Christi, TX.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.
