Jose Garcia Rios was called to his heavenly home on August 12, 2024 at the age of 88.

He is joined now in heaven by his (wife) Julia S. Rios, (parents) Jose M. Rios and Paulina Rios, (son) Javier H. Rios.

He graduated from Miller High School in 1955. Jose did some mechanic work when he was young. He served his country proudly in 1960 in the 9th Infantry during the Korean War. After the war, Jose came home and married the love of his life, Julia (Enoelia) Salinas on December 17, 1961. They had three children, (son) Jose H. Rios, (son) Javier H. Rios, and (daughter) Melinda A. Rios. Jose worked at the Wilson Tower downtown, he also worked at the Corpus Christi Army Depot for 35 years as a mechanic repairing helicopter engines.

They would have been married for 55 years up until the time of her death in February 6, 2016. Jose was a loving son, a good father that liked to go hunting with his father and friends and also fishing with his kids. They would spend three days every weekend, from Friday to Sunday, catching Drum, Reds, and Croaker.

He was a proud grandfather of two boys, Andres Rios and Enrique Martin Rios.

His legacy will live on for generations to come.

Public Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A, with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. that evening.

Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Guardian FH with the procession to depart at 11:00 a.m. for an 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 710 S. 19th St., with the Burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
