IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jose Lino
Presas
November 18, 1947 – November 28, 2025
Jose Lino Presas, age 78, entered into eternal rest on November 28, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born on November 18, 1947 to Maria de La Luz Garcia Presas and Ramon V. Presas. He is preceded in death by Rafaela Oropez, his grandmother who lovingly raised him, his aunts Josefina Garcia and Ysabelita G. Clark, his uncle Mario R. Garcia and his grandparents Belen and Jose Garcia.
Lino graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1967, proudly representing the Roy Miller Buccaneers, while wearing jersey #66.
After graduation, Lino voluntarily joined the United States Marine Corps from August 1967 to August 1970. During his tour in Vietnam, he served with the Hell In A Helmet 2/9, Company F, 3 rd Marine Division and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. After Vietnam, he was assigned to Panama. There, he was selected to play on the 1969 Navy Iguana Bowl Football team – another moment of pride.
In February 1976, Lino continued his service by enlisting in the Texas National Guard while also working at CCAD. He achieved much during these years, completing Airborne Qualification and Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol training, and he was chosen for specialized training in several European countries. Lino retired from CCAD in 1996 as a dedicated aircraft mechanic and from the National Guard in November 2007 as a proud Staff Sgt. His commitment to service never wavered.
He was honored to be a member of the 82 nd Airborne Association, the Purple Heart Association, VFW Post 2397 and American Legion Bill Roper Post 364. These organizations were a reflection of the values he carried – loyalty, service, and brotherhood.
Lino loved sewing his own hats, a hobby that truly brought him joy. He crafted his own specialty hats with such care and creativity, each one stitched with his heart. People admired them so much – his hats became little treasures that everyone loved and talked about. It was just one of the many unique gifts that made Lino so special.
He enjoyed collecting and restoring old vehicles and other challenging mechanical projects. Lino found joy in working with his hands – and, as a true gun enthusiast, attending gun shows with his sons and grandsons. As a large family, his most love came in celebrating every holiday, graduation, and birthday.
Those memories were filled with laughter and pride, a precious gift he left behind in our hearts forever.
Lino is survived by his wife, Sylvia, their 8 children and 16 grandchildren: Graciela; Lino (Norma), his sons Zachary and Gabriel; John Gabriel (Pam), Natalie and Nathan; Ana (David) Marroquin, Andrew, Marcos, and Juliana; Rosie (Curtis) Lewis, Catalina, and Arabella; Che (Amanda), Alex, Alyssa and Aaron; Marcos, Jacob and Makayla; and Mercedes (Jeremy), Genevieve and Jeremy. He is also survived by his siblings Juanita Maldonado, Maria Magdalena Magallan, Oralia Ruiz, Ramon Presas Jr. and
Mercedes Hawkins along with several nieces and nephews. His love for them all was deep and unconditional.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be his grandsons Zachary, Gabriel, Nathan, Andrew, Marcos, Alex, Aaron, Jacob, and Jeremy.
