Obituary

Jose Munoz, a beloved husband, father (Apa), grandfather, tío, and cherished member of the Carrizo Springs community, passed away peacefully at the age of 99 years and six months on February 8, 2025. Born on July 16, 1925, in Carrizo Springs, Texas, Jose lived a long and fulfilling life filled with love and dedication to his family and friends.
A proud native of Carrizo Springs for over 50 years, Jose was known for his strong work ethic and deep care for the people around him. Jose started as a farm worker and later worked in the oil fields for many years. He took great pride in his work, embodying the values of perseverance and determination. When he wasn't working, you could almost always find him by the water with a fishing pole in hand, enjoying the peace and tranquility of nature and the thrill of the catch. Fishing wasn't just a pastime for him; it was a passion that he eagerly shared with friends and family, passing down stories and wisdom that will be remembered for generations.
He moved to Corpus Christi to live with his daughter, Maria, and her husband Hector, where he also attended VIP Adult Day Care No. 1 in Kingsville, Texas, for 29 years. As a longtime member of the facility, Jose established countless friendships and enjoyed activities such as field trips, dances, and especially Bingo.
Jose was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elena Guerrero Munoz, and his grandson, Kyle Martin Saenz. He is survived by his two daughters, Maria Saenz (spouse: Hector Saenz) and Tina Ellis (spouse: Tom Ellis); his grandson, Daniel Saenz (spouse: Julie) and their sons, Camron and Jonus; as well as his granddaughters, Alicia Saenz (daughter: Kayle Marie) and Kelley Lauren Craig, and numerous family and friends who were touched by his kindness.
As a father, Jose was a constant source of guidance, offering advice, laughter, and unconditional love. His dedication to his family was unwavering, and the legacy of love he leaves behind will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor by family and friends.
Rest in peace, Apa. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Your love, laughter, and strength will forever live in our hearts.
