IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jose Islas,
Sr.
October 9, 1947 – November 30, 2023
Jose Islas, Sr. born October 9, 1947 to Manuel Maldonado Yslas and Delfina Castillo Morales in Robstown, Texas and went to be with the Lord on November 30, 2023 at 76 years of age.
Jose Islas Sr. served in the United States Army from March 27, 1968-March 19, 1974 (4 years inactive reserve) and was granted with an Honorable Discharge. He held a rank of E4. As a SPC, he was a paratrooper and infantry. He was very proud that he became a paratrooper, always spoke about being a paratrooper. He holds a National Defense Service Medal.
Jose liked to have breakfast in the morning at several restaurants and liked to give the server a hard time because he's got to have his coffee and despite the fact he would always go back because he liked being there. He enjoyed fishing and anyone who had a chance to go, would join him. Jose loved to dress "slick" while wearing his numerous Stacy Adams shoes. He would love to talk and tell stories whether they were true or not and would make people laugh. He was a very simple man who didn't care too much for technology and all the gizmos up there but yet he would find ugly crappy stuff that if it serves its purpose, to him its furniture. His philosophy was "don't fix what ain't broken(therefore you're not going to the hospital), if it doesn't fit ill make it fit(to avoid buying the new one), jeans are just jeans-that Rusty Jeans are just as fine as 501 Blue Jeans...
Those who knew Jose would know he was a hard working man yet stubborn and hard headed but would do what he was going to do anyways. Those who knew Jose know there's a lot more to be remembered about his life. Our memories of Jose will never be forgotten, we are going to miss you very much and we will never stop loving you; Your great and fond memories will serve as your legacy.
Thank you for being a great husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Until we meet again.
He is survived by his wife Julia Islas, his sons: Armando Islas, Joe Angel Islas(Teresa), Christopher John Islas and Jose Islas Jr. His siblings from the Morales Family: Greg, Pete, David, Jesse, Tony and Terry. His siblings from the Islas Family: Rachael, Ricky, Lalo, Delma, Tere, Leticia and Vale. His grandchildren: Lyndsay, Anthony, Nicolas, Priscilla, Matthew, Joel and Brianna.
