Hernandez, Sr.
March 17, 1944 – April 1, 2022
Jose Angel Hernandez, Sr. was born on March 17, 1944 to Fidencio F. Hernandez and Agapita Jimenez. He married Maria Nelda Figueroa and had two children. Nelda continued to be a part of his life until his last day.
Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1976-1980 where he continued his education. He worked as a Telephone Installer and Lineman. After his service, Joe enrolled at Del Mar College where he obtained a certificate for small appliance and a/c repair. He worked in construction and was a self taught mechanic. Before retiring, he worked Fire Watch at a local refinery. He was currently renovating his tool shed with his son. Joe enjoyed going to the beach, spending time with his family, playing dominos, shooting pool and studying the Bible.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Fidencio and Agapita Hernandez and two brothers, Frank Hernandez and Benjamin Hernandez.
He is survived by his sisters Olivia Barrera, Guadalupe Mendiola and Trinidad Montelongo, his brothers, Felix Hernandez, Eddie Hernandez (Janie) and Pilar Hernandez and his children, Irene Fay (Roger) and Jose A. Hernandez Jr. (Lisa). He was a wonderful grandfather to Randi Jennings (Brad) and Antonio Fay and an adoring great-grandfather to Ezekiel and Aubrey Jennings. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Public visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Guardian funeral home chapel ''A" with a Service to begin at 12:00 noon.
