Jose "Sonny" Guerra Herebia Jr. ,78, of Corpus Christi, TX passed away on September 17th, 2024. He was born in Alice, TX on May 20th, 1946 to Jose Herebia and Guadalupe Guerra Herebia.

At 10 years old, Jose joined his family working in the cotton fields. After the 9th grade he started working odd jobs to help support his family, which led to his life long career in the oilfield. He started as a truck driver and from there he held many positions such as a dispatcher, gauger, field supervisor, district manager, division manager and finally to his position as terminal manager with Plains All American Pipeline until his retirement in 2016.

When Jose wasn't working you could find him in his favorite recliner, surrounded by his family and watching an Astros game or a Dallas Cowboys game. He loved playing the guitar and listening to music. He would often serenade his family with the hits from Elvis, The Eagles and many more. His love of driving went into his personal life and he enjoyed taking his family on road trips. He was our own personal tour guide of Corpus and was knowledgeable of all the historical spots. He could sit for hours telling stories of his life and experiences growing up.

He is preceeded in death by his mother and father, brother Avelino Herebia, sister Herlinda Herebia and granddaughter Michelle Saiz.

He is survived by his wife Carol Miller Herebia. His brothers and sisters Sylvia Gonzales, Eloisa Torres, Ricky Herebia, Mike Herebia and Robert Herebia. His five children Rebecca (Jessie) Saiz, JoJo (Amanda) Herebia, Jeffrey Herebia (with their mother Maria Herebia),  Billy (Erin) Miller and Matthew (Sarah) Miller. As well as his grandchildren, Jennifer, Rose, Cierra, Caleb, Joe, Emma, Colton, Jacob, Camryn and his great grandchildren Dante and Cayden.

Public visitation will begin at 4:30 P.M. Monday, September 23rd, 2024 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. followed by shared memories of Jose's life. Visitation will continue on Tuesday September, 24th 2024 at Guardian Funeral Home starting at 9:00 A.M. with a service at 11:00 A.M.
