Jose G. Saldaña, completed his earthly journey on June 1, 2023 at the age of 79..
He was born the fourth of seven children to Luis Y. Saldaña and Inez Garcia Saldaña on May 27, 1944 in Kingsville, Texas.
Now at rest is a cherished son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He attended W. B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas and Texas A&I College in Kingsville, Texas, where he earned a Bachelor of Economics degree.
Joe, as he was commonly known, completed Officer Candidate School and served in the United States Marine Corps, with a heart for his country. In his youth, he was a Golden Gloves champion boxer, and won his first 12 matches after turning professional. Thereafter he dedicated many years to his work in the oil field, as a mudlogger, before perfecting the craft of building construction. He generously imparted his knack for workmanship in the homes and businesses of his family and friends around the Coastal Bend. He was truly gifted, and was always willing to share his talent with others. This legacy of perseverance and strength will live on for generations to come.
Jose is joined now in heaven by his parents, Luis Y. Saldaña and Inez Garcia Saldaña; son, Joe Saldaña, Jr.; brothers: David Saldaña and Luis Saldaña, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory, children: Robert (Maricela) Saldaña, Lauralinda Moore, Orlando (Roseann) Saldaña, Dorian Munguia Saldaña; grandchildren: Robert Saldana, Jr., Jake Matthias Moore, Orlanda Saldaña, Jr., Kimberly,Audrey Ashley Saldaña, Judaea Joy Saldaña, Josiah Dorian Saldaña; sisters: Maria Luisa Ortegon, Judge Marisela Saldaña (ret'd), and Sarah Saldaña, as well as his brother Guadalupe Saldaña; along with a host of extended members of the family and friends whom he loved.
