Jose Fortunato Figueroa, known affectionately as Pepe, passed away on August 2, 2024, at the age of 81 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on June 11, 1943, in Clarkwood, Texas. Pepe was a man whose life was defined by his caring, loving, generous, kind, honest, and hardworking nature.

Pepe is survived by his wife, Virginia, and his children: Thomas, Lisa, Antonia, Lupe, Arnulfo, and Mary Jo. His memory will also be cherished by his siblings: Julian, Jorge, Josefina, Maria Elena, and Mary Ester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonia and Alfredo, his child, Jose (Joey), and his sibling, Jesus. Pepe had a great devotion to the music in his life, the true feeling that flowed through the words of his heart. He had such a beautiful voice that was enjoyed by his family and friends. He also had a great love for family sitting down and listening to the stories of his childhood. He would love to share his memories of the past with anyone that would listen. This is what made him such a great songwriter. His commitment to his family and community set a remarkable example for all. He had such a great love for his family and friends. He would do anything to help a family member or good friend or even a stranger that he would see when his restaurants were opened. He would give you he shirt off his back or feed you the amazing food he loved to cook. Family meant the world to our father.

His love and devotion was unconditional and like no other. He always kept the family as close as possible to him and each other. He made sure to greet everybody in the family. He would always make you feel welcome, even if had been years since you last saw him.
Pepe's legacy of love, devotion, and integrity will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation for Pepe will be held on August 8, 2024, at Guardian Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, TX. Family visitation will be from 3 PM to 5 PM, followed by public visitation from 5 PM to 8 PM. A service to honor his life will commence at 6:30 PM.
