Jose "Joe" Angel Benavides, 85, passed away on September 27, 2022.

He served his country proudly during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Marine Corps and was retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents Romulo S. and Margarita O. Benavides, his sisters Elma B. Vela, Gilda B. Saenz, Odilia B. Ortiz, and his brother Romulo O. Benavides.

He is survived by his siblings: Irma B. Rodriguez, Marcela B. Infante, Rebecca Benavides, Baldemar O. Benavides, Richard O. (Terry) Benavides, Ovidio O. Benavides and Linda O. Benavides; His loving wife of 61 years, Irene G. Benavides; his daughter JoAnn (Reynaldo) Garcia; his sons: Michael Joe (Elizabeth) Benavides and Adrian Benavides; His grandchildren Ashley (Austin) Lowenberg, Julian (Brenda) Benavides, Danielle Garcia, Joseph (Leah) Garcia, Maria Elena and Adrian "Buddy" Benavides and Alexandra Benavides, Aidan Benavides, Andrew Benavides, Ashton Benavides; His great-grandchildren Dax and Rowan Lowenberg, Camila Benavides, Adalynn and Abigail Garcia along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Public visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. that evening.

A Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 3502 Saratoga Blvd.

Burial to follow Full Military Honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery 9974 IH 37 Access Rd.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Joe and Julian Benavides, Adrian and Adrian "Buddy" Benavides, Reynaldo and Joseph Garcia and Austin Lowenberg. Honorary pallbearers are Aidan, Andrew and Ashton Benavides.
