Johnny Ray Vaught was called and welcomed home by our Lord and Savior on January 23, 2015. Johnny was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Dick and Maxine Vaught on December 13, 1949. He left us suddenly and unexpectedly.
He enlisted in the United States Army in 1968, received a National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged in 1970. He was a pipeline welder for over 45 years and was a proud member of the Pipeliners Union Local 798.
He cherished his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, welding, and country music. He had a brilliant mind and a true God-given talent for repairing or building anything! If Johnny was your friend, he was a life-long friend. If you were loved by Johnny – you knew it. He loved you with all his heart and soul. You could always count on him…he was a provider, a protector, a powerhouse of a man.
Johnny is preceded in death by both his parents and his half-brother: Bill Glenn Taylor.
He is survived by his uncle: Johnny Vaught; wife: Patricia Vaught; 3 children: Dixie McLester, Jerry Whatley, Barbi Barnes and son-in-law: Kelly Barnes; 6 grandchildren: John, Christopher, Savanah, Nicki, Matt, and Heather; and 3 great-grandchildren: Kyler, Ryan, and Holly Grace.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Guardian funeral home chapel "B". Interment will follow at Laguna Gardens cemetery, 2500 Debra Ln.(Flour Bluff).
He will be missed more than words can express. The world has lost a GREAT man, but our love for him lives on. He has left a footprint on our hearts that has forever changed us.
