Johnny Joe Salgado, 78 passed away Friday August 30th from an aggressive cancer.
John was born August 20th to Elias and Dora Salgado in Corpus Christi TX. John graduated from Roy Miller high school and shortly after graduation was drafted into the army. He was honorably discharged serving in the Vietnam War with a big red 1 infantry. He then was a truck driver for Lone star beer company, traveling to surrounding areas. Afterwards he then began his career at the Corpus Christi army depot where he worked as the tubing shop supervisor, retiring in 2009. John was a hardcore Dallas cowboy fan. He also enjoyed cooking, baking, fishing, barbecuing and had a passion for music. He was in a small group called "Trio Romance". His voice was truly unique. He loved to sing and entertain crowds. Everyone who met John knew he had a heart of gold and would always help others, whether it be his family or friends. He was a funny, loving, caring person.
He is preceded in death by Dora and Elias Salgado, Isidro and Hilda Bermundez, David Salgado, Valentin Salgado, and Jean Hendon. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Janie Salgado. His beloved dog "Lulu". His children Darlina (Priscilla) Lozano, Joanna (Jeremy) Zepeda. His grandchildren Gage McCall, Maddox and Melina Lozano, Joshua and Lyla Zepeda, Vivian (Dylan), Valerie (Andrew), Isi (Luna) Bermudez. His great grandkids Isis, Jordan John Lawrence, Ember and Keegan. His siblings Elias, Jr. (Debbie) Salgado, Norma (Mando) Guerra, nieces Melissa Salgado, Trini, Candace (Joe) Salgado Palmacci, Nephews Eric (Ingrid) Salgado, Oscar and Frankie Guerra. Great grandnieces Sabrina, Delilah and Riley Salgado.
The family will be begin gathering at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with the Interment with Full Military Honors to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Rd. (Exit 9)
