Fernandez
Johnny Richard Fernandez was welcomed into heaven on March 13, 2026. He was born on October 11, 1946, in Beeville, Texas, to Adela Salazar-Fernandez and Nieves Fernandez.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Rosa Linda Fernandez. Johnny and Linda were united in holy matrimony on December 18, 1970, and shared 50 years of devoted marriage. Together, they raised four daughters and established a strong and enduring legacy as the patriarch and matriarch of the Fernandez family.
Johnny proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In recognition of his bravery and dedication, he was awarded several honors, including the Purple Heart. Following his military service, he retired from the United States Postal Service.
He found great joy in spending time with his family and remained deeply involved in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also cherished time at his ranch, where he raised Beefmaster cattle and enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his daughters, Priscilla Fernandez, Lorraine Fernandez, Jennifer Fernandez, and Melissa Fernandez; his granddaughter, Elissa Fernandez-Flores (Ulises), and their daughter, Elaina; his grandsons, Johnny (Aly) and their son, Jaxon; and Christopher and his children, Caden, Anthony, and Rosalin.
Public visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Guardian funeral home chapel with a holy rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. The funeral procession will depart Guardian on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. for a 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Catholic church 5620 Gollihar Rd. Burial will follow with full military honors at 1:00 p.m. at The Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery 9974 I.H. 37 North Access Rd.
