Johnny Barraza, 76, passed away on January 7, 2022 in Corpus Christi, Texas surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 17, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Santos and Guadalupe Barraza.
Johnny was a graduate of Mary Carroll High School, Class of 1963. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He furthered his education by attending Del Mar College and Texas A&I College in Kingsville. Following in his fathers' footsteps he obtained his CDL in order to operate as a truck driver for the family business, Barraza Trucking. He dedicated 33 years of employment with the Exxon Mobile Pipeline concluding his service as a Senior Plant Operator.
A perfect day for Johnny would be to have his family and friends gathered around enjoying the simplicity of life. His favorite role was being a grandfather; the memories he made with each grandchild will last for generations to come. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and working on his perfect yard. Although our hero has completed his earthly journey, his legacy of love will live in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his wife Angelita Barraza; children: Roxanne (Alonzo) Garcia, John (Laura) Barraza, Lonnie (Claire) Barraza, Pamela Barraza, and Rene Garza; grandchildren: Blake, Caleb, Lonnie Jr., Celine, Rene Jr., Nina, Jaden and JonBrenon; brothers: Chuck (Bernice) Barraza and Thomas (Helga) Barraza; sisters: Mary (Raul) Gomez and Rosie (Late Julian) Martinez; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Public Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 3502 Saratoga Blvd., with the Burial to follow in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Rd., where Full Military Honors will be rendered.
