John L. Durr was born July 4, 1944 in Salem, Ohio to John Ross Durr and Alice Marie Anderson Durr. He passed away on November 6, 2022 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

After high school, John served two years in the United States Navy Reserve while attending Del Mar College.  He then served two years on active duty.  Upon returning home, he married Janet (Knesek) Durr and together they had two children.

John was a devoted husband, father, Gampie, and friend.  He enjoyed making others laugh, doing volunteer work at various local charities, and sharing his faith with others.  In his spare time, he enjoyed yardwork and woodworking.

John is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, William Durr, and sister, Beverly Wayt.  He is survived by his wife, Janet, of 55 years, his two daughters, Jackie Orchard (Donnie Orchard) and Julie Tullos (David Ruth), two granddaughters, Madison and Morgan Tullos, and one grandson, Ryan Orchard.

A memorial service will be held at Safe Harbor Fellowship, 4215 S. Staples St. Corpus Christi, Texas 78411, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Billy Storms officiating.
