Obituary

John David (Mike) Hoover was born on April 30, 1970 in Beaumont, Texas to his parents Rufus David Hoover and Connie Sue Keown.

Mike grew up in Beeville, Texas where he was a role model for his siblings throughout their childhood. He attended A.C. Jones High School and later moved to San Antonio, Texas where he began his adulthood journey. As years passed, he was filled with joy as his family began to grow. He fathered three wonderful children whom he loved very much. He was the go to man for school projects, late night snacks and the best fishing spots.

Mike was a one of a kind individual who truly searched for the good in everyone he crossed paths with. He enjoyed spending time with family, cracking jokes for all to hear and being a helping hand when anyone was in need. Mike thrived with a fishing pole in hand, beer in his Cowboys koozie and pit full of bbq. He was a caring husband to Christine and cherished their special moments together. Whether they were kayaking the bay, cooking dinner or enjoying a Texas sunset, Mike was devoted to making each minute one to remember. He was the ultimate pitmaster, fisherman, jokester and handyman that everyone loved and admired. While there were many roles he filled, he was someone who would drop anything to be there to help anyone at anytime. Mike was a special soul who will forever be in the hearts of many.

Mike was dedicated to his career working for Dynamark Security for 18 years. During this time, he was a special employee that built great relationships with not only customers but also with his coworkers. Outside of work, he had a passion for woodworking which quickly became another hobby he loved. He also spent multiple weekends serving and being a member of the Journey to Damascus community.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Rufus David Hoover; grandparents, Kenneth Raymond "Red" and Anita Keown, and great-grandmother, Letha Smith. He is survived by his mother, Connie Sue Keown; his children Jon (Michelle) Hoover, Brendan Hoover, and Madison Hoover; wife, Christine Hoover; stepsons, Sterling Burns and Chance Roberson; sister, Kortni (David) Gonzalez; brothers, Sonny (Paula) Ryan and Jacob Pruitt; grandchildren, Jayden, Everson, and Finn; the mother of his children, Cassondra Hoover and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
