Joe Edward Nesmith, age 61, passed away surrounded by his family peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer.

Joe leaves behind to cherish these beautiful memories, devoted wife Bernice D. Nesmith of San Antonio, TX; daughters: Cynthia (Daniel) Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, TX, Brandy Krystal Nesmith of Corpus Christi, TX; sons: Joe Edward Nesmith Jr. of San Antonio, TX and James Eric Nesmith of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Joshua Tyler Garcia, Daniel Rodriguez Jr. and Isabella Rodriguez. He is also survived by his mother Modesta Nesmith, his sister Isabel Perez of Houston, TX, and his two brothers: Oscar Nesmith of Corpus Christi, TX. and Jesse Nesmith of Converse, TX; along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his father Joe Alfredo Nesmith.

Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Army and the Texas National Guard where he earned several medals. Joe grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is the son of Joe A. Nesmith and Modesta Nesmith. As a child he enjoyed all sports and fishing.

Joe graduated from Del Mar College, in Corpus Christi with an Associate Degree of Art Science and then continued his education at the University of Incarnate Word with a degree of Business Management.

He was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church of San Antonio and loved serving the Lord.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2020 at Guardian Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church 3210 SPID/Kostory.

Burial with Full Military honors will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m.
